Same Day Care: What Is It and Why Is It Better Than Urgent Care?

Same Day Care: What Is It and Why Is It Better Than Urgent Care?

Juno Same-Day Care: Better than Urgent Care?

Sometimes you need medical care when you least expect it. A twisted ankle. A toddler who might have an ear infection. A grandma whose hip hurts more than usual.

Who do you call when a loved one wakes up feeling out of sorts and needs medical attention? Where do you go when a non-emergency injury happens and you need to be seen by a medical specialist as soon as possible? What about a UTI that you know you need antibiotics for? Or if you’re in need of vaccinations, STI testing, and more?

Many people go to urgent care, and this has traditionally been the best option in many cases. But now, there’s another option available to individuals and families living near a Juno Medical clinic. That option is called same-day care.

What is Juno Same-Day Care?

Addressing the need for a quality healthcare experience that’s inclusive, transparent, and affordable, Juno Medical was launched in several metro areas across the nation. Juno delivers professional same-day care for urgent needs, illness, or injuries in a welcoming atmosphere.

How it works

The goal is to give individuals and families the opportunity to be seen in the same clinic where they normally go for their healthcare services. Juno same-day care lets you book an appointment the very day that you require medical care.

Booking your same-day appointment is simple and done online. Instead of walking into a busy clinic and waiting indefinitely to be called, you arrive at your appointed time and wait less than 10 minutes.

Because you’re able to schedule an appointment on the same day, you can enjoy many benefits, including these:

  • Being seen the day you need medical attention

  • The ability to schedule a same-day appointment at a specific time

  • Evening and weekend appointment availability

  • The familiarity of a clinic and medical providers you already know (or want to know)

  • Less interruption to your day

  • A more calming, stress-free experience

  • Quality care available every day of the week

  • Convenient care when you become sick or have a minor injury

  • Access to diagnostics, including labs and ultrasound

  • Quick check-in process

  • Practically no wait times

The providers at Juno Same-Day Care fully understand that getting treated the day you get sick or are injured leads to better outcomes. Same-day care is an efficient and compassionate way to tend to the unexpected medical needs of a community.

When you book

Unlike the typical urgent care experience where patients wait in crowded areas full of sick people, in just under one minute, you can get a same-day care appointment with Juno by booking online.

After selecting ‘Same-Day’ appointment, do the following:

  • Tell Juno the reason for your visit.

  • Select a location and time that works for you.

  • Check in at your appointment time.

  • After check-in, your wait will be less than 10 minutes.

Another plus is that many Same-Day Care visits can be conducted virtually. If this is the appropriate approach and a physical examination is not needed, you can get the medical attention you need by connecting with a provider directly from your mobile device or computer, from the comfort of your own home.

What providers are available

Tests and diagnostics

  • Lab work

  • COVID test

It’s convenient to have access to these and other tests during your same-day appointment.

What is Urgent Care?

Also called acute care clinics, urgent care centers are available to treat urgent but not life-threatening conditions. Urgent care facilities can address the same injuries and health conditions that a same-day care medical clinic treats.

How it works

When you don’t need to go to the ER but you require medical attention for an injury, a medical condition, or a health concern, you can go to a local urgent care facility that’s open.

With very few exceptions, these walk-in clinics do not take appointments. You walk in, check in at the front desk, and wait to be called. Depending on how many other urgent care seekers walked in before you, the wait can be very long.

Each urgent care facility has its own hours. One may be open until 8 pm; another may close at 6 pm. One may be open Saturdays from 10 am to 6 pm; another may be open Saturdays from 9 am to noon. Some are open on Sundays, while others are closed.

Not everyone thinks about checking urgent care hours before driving to the clinic only to be disappointed when they discover it’s closed. Trying to figure out which urgent care places are open when you’re not feeling your best can be especially challenging.

What providers are available?

Like same-day care clinics, urgent care facilities offer skilled medical providers who are ready to diagnose you and tend to your immediate needs.

These health providers have a range of backgrounds and specialties, along with years of medical practice experience.

Each urgent care clinic is a little different, with different diagnostic equipment available onsite and varying levels of expertise represented.

What conditions are treated in urgent care?

Many different conditions and cases can be treated at urgent care. Depending on the clinic, they may include:

  • Splinting and casting broken bones

  • Treating respiratory conditions

  • Alleviating asthma and bronchitis symptoms

  • Providing allergy relief

  • Treating animal bites

  • Providing help for digestive issues

  • Treating infections

  • Providing minor wound care

  • Treating minor burns

Overall, Juno's Same-Day Care and urgent care facilities treat the same types of focused, non-life-threatening conditions that require prompt attention.

Tests and diagnostics

The types of lab tests and diagnostics that can be done at an urgent care clinic vary greatly from location to location.

Some urgent care places have limited on-premises lab facilities. Others have to send you elsewhere to get lab work done during normal business hours.

Some urgent care centers have x-ray machines and advanced imaging equipment, but others do not. Urgent care may refer you to another facility with the proper equipment for more extensive diagnostics—and sometimes, it can take days before you can get an appointment at the other location.

Urgent care drawbacks

While Same-Day and urgent care centers treat the same conditions and injuries, there are some drawbacks to using urgent care. They include:

  • Wait Time: When you walk into an urgent care facility, you don’t know how long you’ll have to wait—it could take hours before a medical professional is available to see you.

  • Crowded Waiting Areas: Waiting to be called in a confined space with many other patients seeking care can expose you to illnesses, including COVID and the flu.

  • Limited Hours: Many urgent care facilities offer limited hours on evenings and weekends.

  • Limited Resources: Not every urgent care location has a comprehensive lab or the necessary diagnostic equipment onsite, which means you may have to schedule another appointment at a different location in a few days.

  • No Follow-up Care: Because urgent care centers are typically not primary care practices, most of the time they are unable to offer follow-up care to patients.

While many urgent care clinics are well-equipped with diagnostic tools, until you’re being treated there, you won’t know if they have the right equipment to diagnose you properly and promptly.

Why choose Same-Day Care over urgent care?

There are many reasons you’d choose Juno same-day care services over urgent care for yourself or a loved one. These reasons include:

  • Convenience: Book your Same-Day Care appointment online in less than a minute.

  • Scheduling Ease: Instead of waiting indefinitely, you get to check in at the facility at your appointed time.

  • Quick Access: After you check in, you’ll be seen by a medical professional in less than ten minutes.

  • Welcoming Environment: All Juno Same-Day care locations prioritize being friendly, inclusive, and modern spaces.

  • Availability: Same-Day Care is available weekends and evenings.

  • Onsite Diagnostics: Juno Same-Day care locations have lab facilities and diagnostic equipment.

  • Comprehensive Services: Juno offers multiple services, including quality pediatrics, women’s health, primary care, and same-day care, all at the same location to provide you with any follow-up care you need.
